Privacy Policy

Our commitment to your privacy
This policy explains what data we collect and why, how we handle it, and the rights you have over it. Our commitment is simple: we never sell your data.
Thinking Budget exists to help you understand and steer your own spending. To do that well we need some of your financial data — and we treat collecting only what we need as a feature, not a compromise.
What we collect and why
1. Account information
When you create a Thinking Budget account we ask for identifying details like your name and email address. This lets us secure your account, send essential service messages, and provide support.
2. Billing information
When you subscribe, your payment details are submitted directly to our payment processor and never touch our servers. We retain a record of each transaction (which may include the last four digits of your card and your billing address) for invoicing and billing support.
3. Financial and budgeting data
We store the transactions, budgets, categories, and forecasts in your account. We process this data only to provide the service to you. You own your data. We claim no ownership over it, and we access its contents only to provide support you request or to maintain the accuracy of the service.
Sensitive fields (such as linked-account identifiers and transaction details) are encrypted at rest.
4. Website and app interactions
We collect aggregated, anonymized analytics about how our pages and app are used — browser and OS version, IP address, pages visited, and referring site — to improve the product.
5. Voluntary correspondence
When you email us, we keep that correspondence so we have context if you reach out again, along with anything you volunteer (for example, survey responses).
When we access or disclose your information
- To provide support you request. With your permission, to troubleshoot an issue.
- To investigate abuse. As a last resort, with a good-faith belief that our Terms have been violated.
- When required by law. We will notify you of any legally binding order unless prohibited from doing so.
- With trusted subprocessors. Vendors that provide hosting, infrastructure, and payment processing. A current list is available on request.
Your rights
- Access and correct your information from your account settings.
- Export your budgeting and transaction data at any time.
- Delete your account and data permanently (see Data Retention).
How we secure and retain your data
Security. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and sensitive fields are encrypted at rest. We apply least-privilege access controls internally.
Retention. We keep your content while your account is active. When you cancel, your data becomes inaccessible immediately, is removed from active systems within 30 days, and is purged from backups within 60 days.
Changes and questions
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email, and the latest version will always live here.
